Huawei Radio Units are responsible for the radio frequency (RF) part of the communication. They convert digital baseband signals into analog RF signals for transmission and vice versa. They are typically mounted near the antennas atop the tower or pole.

Huawei BBU (Baseband Unit)

Function: Manages the entire base station’s core operations, including signal processing, main control, transmission, and clock functions.
Location: Usually situated at the base of the tower or in a centralized equipment room due to its physical size and need for central management.
Signal Processing: Converts signals between analog and digital formats, with a digital signal processor (DSP) at its core.
Connectivity: Connects to the RRU via a Common Public Radio Interface (CPRI) fiber optic link.

Huawei RRU (Radio Remote Unit)

Function: Focuses on radio frequency (RF) functions, including transceiver operations and signal transmission/reception.
Location: Mounted at the top of the tower, close to the antennas, to minimize signal loss and power requirements.
Signal Conversion: Receives digital signals from the BBU and converts them into radio frequencies for transmission via the antenna, and vice versa for received signals.
Connectivity: Linked to the BBU via the CPRI fiber optic interface and to the antennas via coaxial cables.
